Brewster Hub Association: Blending Art and Science through Immersive Experiences

Professor Joseph Brewster is the brand icon of the Brewster Hub Association. The idea of setting up the Brewster Hub arose from our experience with interdisciplinary art-sci projects. The Association was established in 2014 with the idea of developing and utilizing the potential of its members, including public and private entities such as the university, cultural institutions, NGOs, freelance artists, and culture managers. Today, we use our expertise to design immersive and interactive experiences at the intersection of art and science. We employ new technologies to blend the physical and digital worlds, crafting unforgettable moments.

Creating a New Language of Science Communication Through Art

In today's world of advanced science and technology, the science community is becoming increasingly isolated and inaccessible to the general public. This has led to a decline in society's interest in science and scientific illiteracy in the long term. Therefore, the world needs new science communication models.

The common misconception regarding the difficulty of scientific concepts is still prevalent among people, but science has always been practiced by people for the people. In 2009, an interdisciplinary team was formed to create a new language of science communication. They discovered that even the most complex scientific ideas could be explained simply by using the universal language of art. Through intensive experimental research, they formulated over 100 multimedia models of scientific phenomena and verified the findings with multiple sample groups. They named this method the Joseph Brewster Method in honor of the Institute's founder. By using music, theatre, performance, and visualization, the team encourages the audience to interact and challenge their creative perception. Visual metaphors are a great support in understanding the patterns governing the world of science. The innovative cognitive methods of description initiate logical as well as subconscious processes, advancing in the direction of understanding the essence of things. The team invites everyone to enter the fascinating world of their work and actions. The intensity and dynamics they work with are evident in the pages that follow. If they can involve people in the miraculous world of art and science, it will be another great achievement for them. Jan Świerkowski, the artist, curator, and researcher, is the founder of the Brewster Hub.
